Hello everyone, if your wireless drops or if you do not have a laptop just use your smart phone. The mobile site has a useful interface to view the schedule by day and by track.

I am hosting a BOF in room 206 at 4:15pm today, Monday to present how we created the mobile version of the DrupalCon website. The mobile version will automatically load for all webkit based smart phones.

Nu har jag bestämt mig för att köra fast här, så då kommer jag hit med ett lass frågor i bagaget.. Nu även med en gnutta bitterhet då jag lyckades trycka f5 och tog bort allt jag skrev ><

Massa varma kramar utdelas om de mottages. Dock kvarstår lite små bitar i Cache problemet, men det återkommer jag till sen..

Vår (min scoutkårs) hemsida är det vi pratar om här för alla nyanlända. (går att nå på http://www.hv.ssf.scout.se för de som är intresserade). Scouter är ju kända för att lösa problem med glatt humör, de har man nu gjort på nätet med på enklaste sättet såklart. Så nu har jag lite problem att städa upp.
Jag har redan lyckats med att städa upp så vi fått gemensam inloggning till bildgalleri (gallery2), vilket var fristående förut, sen forum (phpBB3) genom Drupal. Även massa andra roliga funktioner har vi fått tag på :)
Nu ska jag ta tag i mindre viktiga bitar, som inte har varit så prioriterade i min värld, men tänkte det var hög tid för detta nu. Tex så ligger mailen helt utanför systemet, så det vore kul att få in.
Det som återstår är som det står i rubriken maillista samt filarkiv.
Jag har googlat/sökt på drupal sidan i ett par timmar nu utan egentligen funnit det jag vill ha.. Tex så består hemsidan av typ 4 olika metoder för att skicka mail utan att någon av dessa fungerar som jag vill.

Mailsystem:
Vi har använt en ledares lösning för detta, så man har behövt kontakta han jämt så fort man ville lägga till någon/ta bort någon ur systemet. Så hoppas på att allt ska ske via Drupal.
Nedan står allt listat hur jag har tänkt att det ska bli när det är klart. Allt står i prioritetsordning, så det som är högst upp är mest viktigt.
De funktioner som behövs:

• Skicka mail till en redan existerande roll (grupp), att hela gruppen ska kunna skicka mail till just den listan (rätt uppenbart att man vill skicka mail ;))
• Att enda sättet att inte få mailet är att gå ur gruppen (man kan iofs koda bort det i någon fil, så man inte ser det valet under sin profil tex)
• Att man helst hela gruppen (att bara de i gruppens mail går vidare) ska kunna skicka mail till en adress, så vidarebefordras det till listan
• Att mailsystemet inte ska lämna några spår (nodes) på drupalsidan, så om man skapar mailet på Drupal sidan, så vill jag inte ha någon ny node, utan jag vill bara ha ett mail skickat(edit: tillagt kl 02:51)

Det är rätt smidigt som vi har nu, att man skickar bara ett mail till en adress så skickar den vidare till alla andra. Så det är en önskvärd funktion att ha kvar.
All mail som kommer till hemsidan vidarebefordras till gmail, pop och imap finns där (ev kan jag få sortera ut visas mail så dom hamnar på servern om det är enda valet.)
Är detta görbart?

Om nu detta var för svårt så kanske detta blir lättare:
Gruppredigering
Lite svårt titel kanske, men det jag vill upp nå är att en grupp av användare ska kunna redigera en viss sida.
Kåren har ett par avdelningar, och dessa alla har varsin undersida. Så det vore smidigt att enstaka ledare bara kan redigera just sin avdelnings hemsida (så dom inte råkar redigera någon annan sida).
Detta är ingen högprioritering på, mest bara en smidighets sak. Så detta är inget jag vill lägga ner ett par timmar på för att konfigurera, så ni behöver inte heller lägga ner massa tid för att hitta en lösning. Som sagt sökt lite efter allt, men inte hittat nått konkret.

Det som händer är att om jag väljer att slå ihop javascript/css via drupals inbyggda cache så händer märkliga saker. Vid sammanslagning av javascripten så kommer tinymce sluta fungera, för den klarar då inte av att ladda in just det javascriptet.
När jag försöker slå ihop CSS filerna så tappar sidan all formatering. Så detta verkar inte heller vara en vettig lösning.
Använder Boost och Authchache modulerna.

Filarkiv
Vi använder just nu IMCE för att hantera filerna. Den är inte alltid så snabb och ger fel när man har åäö i filnamn/kataloger.
Just åäö vill vi gärna ha kvar i filnamnen, även integrationen med tinymce, så man lätt kan bifoga en fil/bild från filhanteraren.

Vi behöver inge avancerat, man ska kunna gå in i ett par olika mappar där ska det finnas några dokument som man kan hämta.
Ett plus skulle vara att man kan länka direkt till en mapp, så att jag från en avdelnings hemsida ska länka till dess mapp i filarkivet (gärna lite integrerat så man får upp en lista på deras hemsida)

Nu bort från filernas värld till kontaktformulär. Detta har jag hittat patch filer till, för många, så har absolut ingen aning om vilken av alla dessa man ska välja. Om någon gjort detta så blir nog detta en lätt fråga :D
Låta anonyma komma åt personliga kontaktformuläret
Det vore en trevlig att slippa ha alla mailadresser utskriva på hemsidan utan då istället ha det personliga kontaktformuläret som man länkar till så får alla skriva i det.

Slutligen så har jag en liten fråga, texten som vi har längst ner ”Kontaktperson för denna sida är Joel - Senast uppdaterad 22 augusti 2010” det är en omskrivning jag gjort av texten när sidan blev skapad, den är olika för framsidan och resten.
Nu undrar jag om denna går att skala ner i mindre beståndsdelar så varje olik typ av nod tex en nyhet och en vanlig sida kan ha olika texter längst ner. För det ser lite konstigt ut att det står den texten på en nyhet.

Såklart kom jag på ytterliggare en fråga, så här kommer den:
Meta taggar, de finns inget ställe att ställa in dessa på i drupal, så hittat några länkar här via till typ Integrated Metatags eller Nodewords för att nämna någon.
Så, vilken är rekomenderad att använda?
Jag behöver i princip bara en sida där man kan skriva in olika meta taggar, så inte massa lullul eller annat :)

Nu är jag däremot trött och glad över att jag skrev allt detta i openoffice först innan jag skickar in det, så jag inte trycker på F5 igen. Jag brukar gilla att göra det, speciellt när jag skrivit en lång text..

For one of our clients, we are running a Drupal site with about a millions of nodes. Before launch, those nodes are imported from another database and then indexed into Apache SOLR. The total time to index all of these nodes in an empty SOLR instance is measured in days rather than hours or minutes.

A bit too long to do this import regularly. So me and my (XDebug) profiler delved into the Apache SOLR module code to look where we could scrape of a few hours/days of the execution time.

Seemed like in our case, there were 3 components responsible for a large share of the execution time. Let's have a look.

BTW. We are using the latest dev build of version 2 of the Apache SOLR module.

Drupalcon Copenhagen slides and a video!

I had a great time at Drupalcon Copenhagen! Thanks to everyone who made it happen. I did one presentation this time around, "The Command Line is your friend." It covered the basic commands for getting around and doing things, most of which are covered in more detail in the Command Line Basics video series. One thing that was new and that I ended up not having time to get to in Copenhagen was showing how to install Drupal from the command line. A number of people expressed interest in seeing that part, so I promised I'd make a video of it, and now I've gotten it done. I'm attaching the slides from the presentation here as well, so please have some fun playing around on the command line.

A while ago I wrote about how to provide exportable configuration presets in Drupal modules. While I was taking advantage of CTools' exportables API rather than building this functionality from scratch, we still ended up with quite a lot of code for what was supposed to be a standardized feature. Since then, however, CTools' exportables API has evolved and now also provides a UI out of the box.

Låt oss säga att vi har en nodtyp som heter "nyheter". Just nu har jag gjort så att varje nyhet kan ha en "huvudbild", som man väljer med hjälp av ett CCK fält av image.

Men hur hanterar ni om man vill lägga in bilder i själva "bodyn"? Just nu använder jag bueditor och imce, vilket inte känns helt optimalt. Använder folk en egen nodtyp för alla bilder och väljer bilder på detta sätt? Fast det går väl kanske inte att få in en sådan direkt i bodyn i en editor.

Om man vill t.ex lägga in ett enkelt "bildspel" på 10 bilder, där användaren själv kan bläddra mellan dem utan att behöva ladda om sidan, vad används mest då?

Söker tips och idéer på detta.

Hej, ett problem som jag stött på med Drupal ett tag nu och som kan vara riktigt irriterande är saknaden av att använda ÅÄÖ direkt i tpl.php-filerna (page.tpl.php, block.tpl.php osv). Jag fattar inte varför det inte fungerar. Direkt i Drupals noder fungerar det ju såklart, men ibland om man vill ha statisk text t.ex. någon slags slogan så måste man alltid skriva &auml;, &ouml; och &aring; istället för åäö. Jag har provat lagt till en ny meta-tagg som tar fram ISO eller UTF-kodning direkt i dokumentet men det fungerar inte. Det största problemet jag har nu är att jag ska ha jQuery och jag måste ha ordet "Välj" i koden, men det blir istället ett frågetecken istället för "ä".

Jag har provat sätta "Vunescape("%C4")lj"); (%C4 är "ä" på javascript-kodning) men det fungerar inte, trots att det gjorde det på en annan hemsida jag har. Jag provade även lägga drupal_add_js direkt i blocket, men i just detta läget verkar det inte fungera, jag måste ha koden i page.tpl.php. Hur fasen ska jag göra? Enklast vore ju om det gick att ändra kodningen med någon meta-tagg eller nåt, jag kanske gjorde fel tidigare.

I was recently trying to figure out exactly how long my users' sessions were lasting on an existing Drupal site that I had built. Generally it seemed like users were remaining logged in for an extremely lengthy period of time. I did some research and finally discovered that this setting is actually configured in the default settings.php file that ships with Drupal. There's a line in the settings file that initially reads:

Det här vet jag ska fungera men jag har inte kommit på hur man gör.
Jag har idag ett block som visar kortare info. All kortare info läggs i en innehållstyp. Nu finns behovet av att visa 2 poster på samma gång. Jag vill ha dem i två block eftersom det ser snyggast ut.
Går det att få samma innehållstyp visad i två block utan att samma nod visas i båda på ett enkelt sätt?
Gärna så att den nyaste hamnar i det första blocket och att den som är snäppet äldre hoppar ner i det andra.

You have to agree that Drupal admin screens can be pretty gnarly to interact with. If you want a better looking Modules listing page and if you want a tidier node add and node edit form... Then read on and watch the video at the end.

OK. I Pride myself on being HIPP and knowing about the newest modules and the coolest modules. I can not explain how I missed the MODULE FILTER module.

Late in the code sprint the last day of DrupalCON in Copenhagen, there was a lot of discussion going on about the upgrade path in Drupal 7.  Questions of how to handle certain aspects of the process and prevent horrible flaming death when upgrading a site and its contrib modules.  Upgrade processes, much like data migration, often become a sticky problem.   Right now that stickiness has literally stuck the release of Drupal 7.

Regardless of the release status, folks are starting to adopt D7 for their projects.  The Examiner recently launched on Drupal 7.  Acquia's Drupal Gardens moved into public beta this summer, also on D7.  These folks aren't alone, but not everyone has the expertise and backing to convince the decision makers to live on the bleeding edge.

Building a website I recently ran into an issue where I had HTML search facets interacting with Drupal views. The user would click on the facet and it would filter the view depending on the argument. I ended up implementing hook_views_query_alter. To make sure the values I wanted to filter on were in the view, I added the search facets into the view as fields. This automatically joins the necessary tables so that you don’t have to.

Implementing hook_views_query_alter requires two parameters, view and query, both are passed by reference. Since this hook is called for every view the first thing I did was check that I was altering the right query by adding an if statement that checks the view name. After that you're free to modify the query as you wish. In my example, I looped through the search facets and added them as where statements and arguments to the query.

In part 1 of our Maestro module overview we explained the different task types that we have available in the module. One of these task types is the Interactive Task and this blog post will provide more detail on this task type and how to create your own custom function for it to use.

In an interactive workflow driven process, there are many times you need to present information or request information to a user. Examples of this would include:

• Submit a task to a user to create or update a content type record. This may be a drupal article or something more site specific like a job request setup as a custom content type
• Prompt a user to review a piece of information to approve or reject - possibly an article or that job request
• Ask a user for some information using a form - results of which need to be used in the subsequent workflow
• Ask a user to pick from a list of users who should be assigned a subsequent task in the workflow
• Show a user some information - may not require any action

Basically any task where we want to interact with the user and we want full control over what is displayed. We may need to prompt the user with custom submit actions and execute code depending on what action the user takes.
